I created a mini MIDI wind controller using the Artinoise re.corder as the foundation. I named as "Sop-Reco-Phone(Soprano saxophone + re.corder)." I enhanced it by adding a bite sensor, a pitch bend mechanism, and an extra MIDI function button, similar to modifications I've made on my other instruments. The instrument's body was produced using a 3D printer, and I incorporated a micro-Arduino chip with Bluetooth LE to provide additional MIDI features. The Artinoise re.corder boasts an excellent breath sensor, customizable fingering, and motion sensors.
I also enhanced the re.corder's octave and sharp/flat keys for improved accuracy and performance. One challenge was making the re.corder function with breath without direct contact on its lip sensor. However, I know how to trick the capacitive sensor. I attached conductive tape to the mouthpiece and connected it to the lip sensor.
I intend to upload a performance video showcasing this instrument on my YouTube channel soon. Stay tuned!
