BIOGRAPHY

  Shalom!

I am a geriatrician based in Boston. I graduated from Seoul National University School of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea and earned the master degree in public health at Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, USA.  After completing my geriatric training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, I have been working at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton as  primary care physician, geriatric specialist as well as geriatric medical director.

In addition to my hospital role, I serve as medical director for multiple long term care facilities where I lead care teams to provide the highest quality of care for the frail elderly residents. My compassion extends to patients with terminal prognosis, whom I serve as a hospice medical director.

On a personal note, I have two wonderful children, Andrew and  Hayne, and a cute toy-poodle named  Lily. My wife, Eun Jung, whom I met in Seoul, South Korea, is my great supporter and soul partner in faith.  She is also an excellent cook for Korean food, which is vital to our family's well-being.  We are a Christian family revering Jesus Christ as our Lord. We worship together and strive  to serve our neighbors.

My journey with music began when I was single and briefly self-studied clarinet. When my son, Andrew, showed interest in learning a musical instrument during his early childhood, I gave  him my old clarinet. He took a private lesson at New England Conservatory in Boston and I drove him there every Saturdays . Inspired by his progress, I decided to take lessons from his instructor, which deepened my interest in the wind instruments.

A few years ago, I discovered the electric wind instrument(EWI) and found it fascinating and well-suited to my busy schedule, as I could practice it with headphones late at night.  My basic clarinet  technique and childhood piano lesson helped me quickly improve my EWI skills. Soon, I was able to play gospel songs on the EWI at the nursing homes where I worked, aiming to entertain the residents and hopefully rekindle their faith in God.  Later, I performed gospel concerts at other nursing homes with college student musicians from my church, particularly during Christmas and Easter.

I trust and praise our almighty and faithful God and thank Jesus Christ for His love and salvation.  I always seek the Holy Spirit and strive to bear the fruits from the Spirit in my life.  My life mission is to heal the sick , console the suffering, teach Gospel in foster peace between God and those who do not yet know Him.  I am particularly interested in medical theology and palliative care, aspiring to become an expert in these fields in the near future.

Thank you so much.  God bless you!

From Boston.
